Building a data-driven application to optimize ship operations
Challenge:
A ship owner and operator sought to reduce operational expenditures (OPEX), improve port turnaround times, and empower their crew to make informed decisions. Their current reporting practices and limited access to sensor data hindered onshore crew from providing timely operational support to onboard crew. Additionally, difficult access to critical equipment information limited their ability to optimize fuel consumption, maintenance cycles, and benchmarking across vessels.
Solution:
Arundo enabled intelligent and secure streaming of thousands of sensor data points from the vessels to the cloud via our Arundo Edge Agent.
To visualize the data and make the information actionable, we developed an end-to-end application that is equipment and control system agnostic, enabling fuel and maintenance cycle optimization.
The application supplied actionable contextual information, enhancing advanced analytical decision-making and improving offshore-onshore collaboration.

Impact:
Our solution enabled the customer to reduce fuel and electricity consumption and optimize maintenance cycles by running equipment more efficiently. This resulted in significant cost savings and improved overall operational performance.
The crew is now empowered to make better decisions, leading to increased efficiency and reduced downtime. Furthermore, the enhanced data access and analysis capabilities have strengthened the collaboration between offshore and onshore teams, leading to more effective and proactive operations support.
