A drill-pipe tally from a laser at the wellsite, streamed over 4G
Laser measurements from a ruggedised wellsite enclosure streamed through Arundo Edge over 4G into a tally-sheet application, with compute chains removing duplicate and fluttering readings.
Challenge
Two Permian Basin entrepreneurs had built a laser device to measure drill pipe at the wellsite and needed the readings turned into a reliable tally sheet, from a moving enclosure with only 3G/4G connectivity and a poorly documented PLC.
Solution
Arundo connected the laser's PLC to Arundo Edge over Modbus and a cellular router, built compute chains on the edge that detect duplicate readings and flutter and compute segment and total lengths, stored the results in the platform, and had a tally-sheet interface built against the platform's tag-data API.
Impact
A working proof of concept that the customer benefited from immediately, and that supported the start-up's acquisition under due diligence.
