Root-cause analysis of PVC quality variance and boiler fouling
Two root-cause analyses on historical plant data: why PVC quality drifted off spec, and which leading indicators precede boiler fouling.
Challenge
One site's PVC plant had continuous product-quality problems that pushed it into lower-grade, lower-margin products. Its chlor-alkali boilers fouled too fast and too inconsistently for corrective action.
Solution
Arundo scoped two root-cause analyses on the historical data: interviews with the process experts on the patterns found, initial models tested and reviewed with them, and a results presentation per use case with a data-quality report, the modelling approach and example insights for operations.
Impact
Leading indicators of fouling events and the drivers of quality variance, as the basis for operator notifications of risk and recommendations for optimum process conditions.
