Predicting gas breakthrough from 4D seismic
Machine learning linking 4D seismic to production-logging results, so gas development in the reservoir can be followed without shutting the well in.
Challenge
Following gas development in a reservoir, and so predicting gas breakthrough, normally means production logging: a tool run in the well and a shut-in. The operator wanted the same insight from 4D seismic.
Solution
Arundo developed a range of models correlating 4D seismic summary statistics per production zone with production-logging results for one offshore field. The model reproduced the logging results for the well it was trained on well enough to show that logging reports can be estimated from seismic.
Impact
A path to understanding gas development without production-logging interventions, and more value from 4D seismic.
